Made this — not a knock-off really, but was concocted in 2021 by Erik Adkins for the Slanted Door in San Francisco. I have to assume he knows about the genealogy of the name, so perhaps this recipe is an homage to the original. One of my cherries was a little sad.

Doesn’t look like much right now, but it smells good. Into the cupboard it goes to sit for two weeks, with an occasional shake!

ALT: bunch of citrus peels, ground spices, vanilla beans, floating in a murky liquid in a plastic pitcher.

And it sure does help me start my day with quiet and meditation (albeit with freeway noise in background) when I can get outside.

ALT: photos of a sofa on a balcony in early morning light, and a side table with a coffee, croissant, and the book “A Light Has Dawned” (my favorite seasonal tradition now)

Was surprised to find my room has a balcony, complete with sofa and chair and side tables — first time I’ve had that during a stay in Vegas. Pretty awesome view from 52nd floor of the Cosmo facing south.

Remember in The Princess Bride where Vizzini says “You were not hired for your brains, you hippopotamic land mass”?

Yeah, I found one of those this evening. #caturday

Tonight’s wind-down special: a fireside Godfather (equal parts Scotch and amaretto), and some overdue email.

(Two outta three ain’t bad)

“Because we do not rest, we lose our way. We miss the compass points that would show us where to go, we bypass the nourishment that would give us succor. We miss the quiet that would give us wisdom. We miss the joy and love born of effortless delight.”

my friend @tbortels found this somewhere the other day and I wish I had this shirt, because it's a masterful bit of trolling to the most niche market imaginable. 10/10, epic troll. #bsd #openbsd
