Computer programmer, sesquipedalianist, and dilettante. Busy making video games and software things that aren’t video games. I really like plushies. He/him.
Moving because other servers are starting to defederate mastodon.social due to inadequate moderation.
This is good and normal. I hope the defederations will prompt mastodon.social to improve their moderation and/or consider hosting fewer users so that moderation becomes manageable.
I'm going to move to a new account @whimsy shortly, so if you see a follow from that account, it's me.
You should start following the new account automatically once I'm done.
@miket AFAIK you can still buy the entire collection of that PD library on CD ROM including that terrible game and another terrible game made by me and a friend and some fonts and other crap made in BASIC and various free tools. I'm not going to tell you where because it's incredibly embarrassing.
We later made some stuff on the C64 that was halfway decent but sadly we never finished or released them, and now they're lost forever.
@miket First thing I ever built from scratch and finished was a simple Commando-style shoot em up made with SEUCK on the C64 called Computer World. It was *garbage*. But I sent it to my favourite PD library and they put it in their catalogue for some reason. I sincerely hope nobody ever ordered it. My sincere apologies to them if they did. I was 11 or 12 years old.
@miket it depends. The first thing I ever made from scratch was a very simple text adventure made with a friend on the C64 in basic called Chaos Lair on the C64. No parser, just single key inputs on each screen. More of a choose your own adventure really. But we didn't finish it. We were 7.
First thing I ever finished was a type-in maze game from Input magazine, also on the C64. But I didn't really "make" that, just typed it in and then added my own additions.

I wanted to make something beautiful so I've been working on a simulation of herding sheep πŸ‘. Lots of sheep. Give a follow for progress...eventually. :)
