I’ve developed a fun and cool new way to care about my friends, which is adding their cities to my weather app and regularly reviewing whether they’re currently experiencing a disaster.

I’ve released my new app ScreenCred!

It will show you the common cast and crew between two movies or shows.

I’ve spent a lot of my free time working on it last the few months. I mostly built it to just build something and to learn, but I also hope it will provide some amount of usefulness and enjoyment. If you check it out, I’d love to hear what you think!

It also has an App Clip so you can try it without downloading it.

Find the connections between movies, shows, and the people who make them.

When I was a kid, I LOVED Pee-wee Herman. The movie, the TV show… I even had the pajamas.

When I was 9, he was suddenly taken from us all, far too soon. I didn't know much about the story, but even then, it seemed like insufficient justification for what happened.

He suffered more punishment than he deserved for an imperfect life.

And now, he has once again been taken from us all, far too soon.

RIP, Paul Reubens. Thank you for my childhood memories.

Seen one of these posted without credit, so sharing some more here because they are amazing and I'd buy every single one of them if they existed.

Never a dull moment in my old San Francisco neighborhood
There's justifiable consternation that having other automakers switch to the Tesla charging connector will hurt EV adoption by creating a charging monopoly. I think that despite my distaste for Elon, this is overblown, and this is a necessary move to reinforce the electrification transition https://www.forbes.com/sites/samabuelsamid/2023/07/08/the-ev-future-can-benefit-from-supporting-tesla-superchargers/
The EV Future Can Benefit From Supporting Tesla Superchargers

While there are risks with relying on Tesla to provide charging infrastructure for other automakers, if done right it could be better for everyone and even make EVs more affordable

The “Data linked to you” for Threads on the iOS App Store is because they are using Instagram as their authentication service. The two accounts are inexorably linked. If you use IG at all Meta already has this access/info.
@timonus not sure if this is outside of Opener’s scope, but I would love to be able to send a song link (from YT Music for example) to song.link for a universal link to share with friends with other music services. Would be great for podcasts as well.

I am excited for Home Depot to announce and showcase how much better electric power tools can be. Much like EV vs ICE vehicles, in many use cases, the battery-powered devices are far superior, not just green. I am not sure we will see battery-powered long bar chainsaws or sawmills, but this is a great push for most consumers.

The Home Depot Sets Goal for Battery Powered Products to Drive over 85% of Outdoor Lawn Equipment Sales by 2028 | The Home Depot

ATLANTA (June 22, 2023) The Home Depot expects that by the end of fiscal year 2028, more than 85% of U.S. and Canada’s sales in outdoor power equipment, specifically push lawn mowers and handheld outdoor equipment like leaf blowers and trimmers, will run on rechargeable battery technology instead of gas. This transition will reduce over 2,000,000 metric tons of greenhouse gases annually from exhaust pipes of residential lawn equipment.
