@paul Superficially? I guess? Not buzz cut or super fat D’Onofrio.
@paul Someone asked me almost exactly that at work a few years back.

Why subscriptions? A one-time purchase revenue graph, even for a moderately successful app, looks like this. Yet work required only increases in complexity — Pastel has had 40 multiplatform updates since it launched in 2020, including two system UI redesigns, and a whole new OS (visionOS).

One-time purchases just aren't sustainable, unless the product itself is also one-and-done — and that's just not possible on a moving target like Apple's OSes. Revenue can't be inversely proportional to time

@jarunmb My condolences to all his loved ones. I only “knew" him for a short while but had a high opinion of him from afar. We seemed to share a lot of the same sensibilities.

Hanging with Chewy and the Falcon seem just about right, too. 🚀

@mark I checked out the Trailhunter and an OR Premium today. Comes down to what you can live with. TH has snorkel and rollbars. OR Premium is almost the same price as the Pro/TH with less features. Pro has the gimmicky seats. All are just minor paper cuts relative to the good stuff though.
@mark yeah, it’s effectively a two seater. But I’ve wanted a Taco for decades and finally pulled the trigger. Family trips in the wif-mobile.
@mark I enjoyed the Toyota Sequoia while it lasted but ultimately decided it wasn’t for me. I missed owning a truck. Traded in for a Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro. Side by side pictures.
@atpfm @siracusa re: virtualization on a chips (including Rosetta) - the Apple silicon developer kit was an a series chip, no? I’m pretty sure they were doing VMs on that?

If you want to understand why this nonsense with Anthropic and
Hegseth is so important, go read @DanielSuarez’s“Kill Decision” book from 14 years ago:

@marcoarment I just make a single alias that updates everything and then i never have to remember anything but my naming convention.
