taking the conversation from a different angle: what tools/changes can the rest of us build to empower #blacktwitter and other PoC on fedi to create an environment where they can engage on terms they're comfortable with? Working off the assumption that white fragility will always be a thing, that nazis will be anywhere if they're not actively stopped.
I'm not saying that tech will fix racism, ofc. It won't. Tech alone isn't a solution to fundamentally social problems.
But I do think that the right tech in the right hands can be *empowering*, and I'm wondering what that could be (and it could be stuff like automatic instance-level blocklist sharing, for example)
Two things that are really important on here:
♿ Add text descriptions to your images/videos/audio. Accessibility is fundamental. More info: https://fedi.tips/mastodon-and-fediverse-accessibility-tips/#HowDoIMakePostsMoreAccessibleToBlindPeople
⚠️ Use Content Warnings on anything that people may not want to read right now. It could be upsetting like violence or politics, mild like movie spoilers, but either way it shows empathy and consideration for strangers. More info: https://fedi.tips/staying-safe-on-mastodon/#UsingContentWarnings
