I am so bad at categorizing bikes in any useful way.

Trying to talk about the difference in the seating position of the Aventon Level versus the Soltera, or the difference between the Radio Flyer L885 (fixed forward handlebars) versus the GSD/HSD (tool-less adjustable handlebars with a wide range of motion) is so hard for me, and I don't have any good answers.

Since I just activated a "free trial" for shopify, sharing the pricing options that are presented for shopify customers.

Good morning. This morning, I was taking a bike ride out to the end of the Minuteman and back before work, and as I arrived at the end of the path, I received a calendar alert on my phone for therapy. So I sat down in a park in Bedford Center, did therapy on Zoom via my cell phone tethering, and then rode back into the office to start my workday.

There is nothing special to this story. I just felt like sharing.

  • A police officer was parked in the bike lane.
  • I asked him to move, and he did, but in doing so was then a jerk to me about "having no life".
  • I filed a complaint with the police department Professional Standards complaint form.
  • I got a call 2 hours later from the Deputy Chief of Patrol Operations.
  • He apologized, said (based on my report) the officer made several mistakes, and said he'd have a conversation to change behavior going forward.

Overall, I'm pleased with that final outcome.

Got a ride around Somerville from Coach Balto in the library Bunch Cargo trike tonight.

(For those who don’t know, Coach Balto is a major figure helping drive forward bike buses nationwide.)

Last week, I flew to and from Kentucky on full aircraft. I spent more than an hour around hundreds of people in the crowded Charlotte, North Carolina airport.

Unlike 98% of people in the airport, I was wearing an N95 mask.

Earlier today (5 days after my travel) I tested negative for COVID. (I've been symptom free, but doing testing because I want to avoid giving it to family, who did not travel with me.)

I feel like in high risk environments, individual use of a mask can be pretty effective.

Good morning.

I am currently in Slade, Kentucky, where the weather is 69 degrees and raining. This week I have ridden a chair lift to the top of the Natural Bridge in Natural Bridge State Park, kayaked inside of a flooded limestone mine, visited Whistling Arch in the Red River Gorge Park, and soaked in the hot tub at our vacation cabin.

Today, I will go on a zipline over the Red River Gorge.

Biked to the airport this morning. Appreciate my Tow Monster, which is designed primarily for towing bikes, but is also useful for carrying relatively vertical cargo like my carryon bag.

Biking took 33 minutes—about 20 minutes shorter than the typical transit trip.

Does anyone who follows me on Mastodon live in the 25th Middlesex District in Cambridge? https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?mid=1erpWQ8wbjZ2l6H6Pfr9q8YpqgJRWy2A&femb=1
MA 25th Middlesex District – Google My Maps

The 25th Middlesex district covers roughly a third of Cambridge and no part of any other municipality. It includes all of Riverside and all of Baldwin, the majority of Mid-Cambridge and the majority of Neighborhood Nine, and smaller portions of North Cambridge, Cambridgeport, and West Cambridge.

You’d hope that the transit police would be able to do something about the regular bike lane blocking in the Porter Square MBTA bus stop… if the Transit Police vehicle wasn’t literally doing the same thing at the same time. (Police vehicle was about 15’ behind the car.) @BostonBikeBlockers
