I study Computer Science and I like Video Games, 3D printing and ofc Linux
I have even used it as a small child, because Dad is one of the og Windows haters, cheated on it in my teens to play video games and now I am back, almost fully faithful to it.

if a Game does not run on Linux, I don't play it.

Imagine if every time you looked up anything in the Yellow Pages or encyclopedia, there was this big section at the top of the page called "Notes from Gary" where some guy named Gary who seems to know about 20% less than the average person just sorta gets to say whatever he wants about the subject, no matter how irrelevant it is.

This is what it's like to use Google now.

A pirated Arduino should be called an Arrrrduino. I insist.

I think a lot of the Twitter resistance to switching to Mastodon is because it has a learning curve and that, coupled with switching to an environment where you don't know who to follow or have people following you, makes you feel a bit small. I'm kind of used to feeling foolish about things but some people have a really hard time with it. It's nice to see many in the community here react by being gentle and encouraging.

@aral Architectural issues of Mastodon are largely caused by it mirroring the same design decisions as the biggest commercial platforms. 💯

Wrote before about it:
Current limitation of Mastodon is that since user accounts are on sub-directory on each of the services/servers, people don't own their own identity. Problem with the export is that as each of the user accounts is mapped to the server, it's not possible to simply change the hosting platform.

you know what I love most about Mastodon?

that it doesn't have this "doomscrolling" effect (or maybe I don't follow enough people yet).

as someone with adhd who is in a stressful phase of faer life (yay uni, yay exams 😭) it's so good to scroll down and eventually end up at posts I already looked at.

and go like... right. should get out of bed and to work.

reminds me of a lot of good articles a friend always shares with me, about how much social media (and phones) manipulates us.

It's a funny paradox: my entire body of work is about appreciating buildings through the late stages of their lives and yet I really seem to be unable to accept and forgive myself for getting old.

if you are different... because you are gay, you don't like kids, or you don't belong to the gender you have been assigned too

well tough luck.

they will try to bully you back in line. to bend you, to break you, until a square peg fits inside a round hole.

bad for them that it doesn't work.

they don't want people to know we exist, because then all the trans people who didn't before, know that they are not alone. that they are loved and validated by us. that they do not have to give in to their patriarchical peer pressure to conform.

and that's why they fear us so much.

idk if this has a point or a moral.
maybe... I know alot of shitty transphobic stuff is happening rn all over the world... hang in there buddy.

I think the fall of the patriarchy is closer than we think. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈

what you need to realize is that being free is not just a good thing, it's also immensely scary.

I recently read "anxiety is just the brain not knowing how the future looks" and it makes perfect sense in that case: how would a joe manly man who never had to set his own goals (because patriarchy did it for him) know what his future entails without patriarchy and it's promises?

the rigid structure and having a leader who "takes care of you and your needs" it's really comforting to some people.

their own sense of self is so fragile that it can't exist without eternal external gratification. they are not being accepted for being themselves, they are being accepted for falling in line with everyone else.

which works fine for you, if you are naturally inclined to follow such structures.
