Over the last year or so, I’ve made the biggest-ever change to the way I write software. I now code with AI assistance all the time. Here’s why. Here’s how. https://kocienda.micro.blog/2025/06/25/coding-with-ai-all-the.html

My latest project is code-named "Total Reprint." I ported The Print Shop (1986) to ProDOS and made it hard-drive-installable. Then I made some other improvements, like live previews of third-party graphics and borders. It's bundled with every graphic, border, and font that Broderbund ever released, plus hundreds of other openly licensed graphics that I back-ported from modern artists.

I've been writing my app in ObjC, and I’m pleasantly surprised to find this is still possible… and wow... I miss writing code in that language with UIKit. Such a pleasure.

I enjoyed every day I worked with Apple ObjC frameworks. Once you learned the naming conventions, you could guess names even in new frameworks. It made it easy to think in that code.

Note the time scale Masters puts on the various disasters that may befall YOU: Less than 5 years to a 2008-style insurance / mortgage crisis, 15 years for sea level rise to burst the coastal real estate bubble, cracks developing in the global food supply system, and then there's "black swan" events that will catch us completely off guard, such as the Mississippi river changing its course.

And not enough of us are talking about this, so we're largely unprepared.

When will climate change turn life in the U.S. upside down?

Intensifying extreme weather events and an insurance crisis are likely to cause significant economic and political disruption in the U.S. sometime in the next 15 years.

In the 1980s, Amiga heralded a new era of creativity for computing.

It wasn't even close.
