I’m a sucker for black and white art like this - all of the featured artists manage intricate, atmospheric and dynamic. It’s wonderful stuff.
Just try to ignore one of the most irritating support characters I’ve ever read - this plum here…
It’s good stuff, and worth tracking down.
(Art featured by Casertano and Brindisi. Mignola covers too)
Been working through this DYLAN DOG collection over the past week. Doorstop of a book, with seven stories, all scripted by Sclavi.
Heard a lot about the character so was keen to scratch the itch.
The stories are odd - naive even - with the weirdness tending to just happen to the character rather than him doing anything to solve or interrupt where the plot is heading.
But…the art!
Look here, you lot. It’s my birthday. Cheer an old man up by taking a punt on my book.
I’m very proud of it, but even if that doesn’t sound like your kind of thing, it contains amazing pictures by the cuddly Croatian man-god, Stipan Morian.

Today’s reading - perfect wedge of Dredd here. Great examples of how that ridiculous and brilliant character design by Ezquerra can look amazing in so many different ways.
All from Rob Williams stories -

James Harren

Just finished the Best Of EC Stories (Artisan Edition).
Blimey!
To the surprise of no-one, the horror stories most appealed, though I wasn’t prepared for how unpleasant these stories were - I can *almost* see how the CCA came into being.
The art that stood out particularly were the more experimental styles but, given the cast list, there’s not a misplaced brushstroke anywhere.
A rabbit hole opens in front of me…
Art by Graham Engels, Harvey Kurtzman and Bernie Krigstein
