Husband, father, Mac Admin, science enthusiast, friend to animals, part-time tokusatsu dinosaur, raging feminist. Fuck fascists, mysogynists, transphobes, racists, nazis and their ilk. Opinions are my own. Purveyor of fine dad jokes, and old enough to be narrator for tours of “what used to be here”. Flying buttress of justice. FuturePast signatory of the Declaration of Independence. Living on Lenape lands. Not as inflexible as I might appear. It’s ok to punch Nazis. He/Him.
@courtney Depending on what you're looking for, you might also take a look at Wired's buying guides. They're going hard after Wirecutter's audience. And anecdotally, I've found some of the recent Wirecutter guides to be pretty bad and poorly written to the point where I've started checking the author before I read the article

Thank you SO MUCH for helping this local SF trans nerd who is facing housing insecurity. Alas, her situation has not gotten better as we'd hoped. I hate to ask again, but if you could spare a few bucks, it would really mean a lot. 💝

@magicalgirlsabrina Not at all surprised. Apple seems to have forgotten to justify new features in the frame of how it benefits their users, not how shiny or pretty it may or may not be. Usability and utility used to be their mantra under the hood, but it seems those days may be done and gone

Back when Apple changed Mac OS X drastically, Steve would come on stage and demo + explain why it was better for the user.

These days, they just talk about how gorgeous their new design is.

They never talk about how this new design benefits me other than “it is consistent across all platforms now.” But it can be consistently good or consistently bad across all platforms depending on how good the new UX is.

Steve Jobs talking about Computer Centric vs User Centric design:

@tbridge And to many more! Congratulations!
@hacks4pancakes There are a lot ( a whole lot) of protests scheduled for this weekend. Hopefully we can start to do some good. Still glad you got out before we got to this point
@hacks4pancakes Yeah… It's… yeah
@magicalgirlsabrina To make a recommendation, I'd need to know what features drew you to Arc and kept you using it in the first place, and what you expect from a modern web browser that the mainstream options don't offer
