Munsell Papers
Consist of correspondence, writings, research notes, bibliographies, biographical information, and photographs. The material primarily relates to her professional work as a nutritionist. When in Puerto Rico, Munsell wrote a controversial article in 1944 entitled "Food and Nutrition Problems in Puerto Rico," which prompted her resignation from the School of Tropical Medicine.

Mullany Family Collection

The Mullany parents emigrated from Killenaule, County Tipperary, Ireland during the Great Potato Famine. They arrived in upstate New York in 1851, and settled in Deerfield. Thomas and Margaret (nee Ryan) Mullany had five children, all of whom eventually joined their parents in New York.

Theodoric Romeyn Beck Papers
Chaplain during the Civil War for the Thirteenth (13th) New Jersey Volunteers, Hope College professor of classics and religion (1863-1885), and head of Government College, Yamaguchi, Japan (1888-1894). Collection includes correspondence, a scrapbook of Beck’s articles, and Beck family photographs, along with some pictures of Japanese students.

Koreshan Unity Collection

Contains letters of the Koreshan Unity, other documents. Koreshan Unity (1870-1910) led by Cyrus Teed (1839-1908) was a religious cult whose members generally believed that a life of celibacy led to immortality and that the Earth was hollow and concave. They formed a commune in Florida, which, at its peak, housed some 250 members. The commune contained a printing house, Guiding Star, to publish the Flaming Sword.

Yesterday I pulled down a wicked heavy box and found a large photo album of trustees and employees of the library. Imagine my surprise when most of the images in the back were of female librarians!

One really cool thing is that this is the 1st photo of Berta Lucy Brown that I've found. She registered to vote in 1920. This whole room inventory is paying off though it is sometimes tedious. #Libraries #Histodon #Suffrage
