Topics discussed include his spiritual life, meetings with leaders of various sects, visits to schools, prisons, poor houses & hospitals during his travels, visits with various members of European aristocracy & Pope Pius VII, and situation in Haiti.

Koreshan Unity Collection

Contains letters of the Koreshan Unity, other documents. Koreshan Unity (1870-1910) led by Cyrus Teed (1839-1908) was a religious cult whose members generally believed that a life of celibacy led to immortality and that the Earth was hollow and concave. They formed a commune in Florida, which, at its peak, housed some 250 members. The commune contained a printing house, Guiding Star, to publish the Flaming Sword.

Mary Scofield Clifford Reminiscences

Letters written by Clifford to Cornelia Shaw describing her memories of Davidson College. She describes a visit by Stonewall Jackson and being tutored by the Davidson faculty. Her mother ran a boarding house for students & had Woodrow Wilson as a boarder. Clifford was tutored by Davidson faculty. She married Branch Greenleaf Clifford and together they founded the Clifford Female Seminary in Union, SC.

The German photographer Philipp Adolphe Klier (c.1845-1911) spent decades living in Burma at the end of the 19th and early 20th century. Operating studios in Moulmein and Rangoon, Klier's views of Burma attracted international attention.
