Today: people today blowing up my phone, proving that you CAN coordinate the schedules of 8 different people via text message group. I question if you SHOULD.

๐Ÿงต1/3 What do we lose when family & community cookbooks disappear? ๐Ÿฒ๐Ÿ“š

Katie Livingston argues that cookbooks are more than collections of recipes. They preserve family histories, local traditions, and the everyday experiences that often go undocumented elsewhere.

We (UCLA Library) are hiring a Linux Development Support Engineer (looking for someone w/ 7-10 years experience). Come work with us! There are great folks here, and you'd be reporting to someone I have a ton of respect for (who used to do this job).

I'm happy to answer questions about our culture, etc. The short list: it's fully remote; all the devs you'd be working with are also fully remote; anticipated hiring scale: $125k/year to $155k/year. Read for more:

Oh no wait, it's even worse! There's not even audio! Well now I REALLY won't learn!
Worst daily experience -- clicking an interesting NPR article and then realizing it's audio only and it's too early for a transcription. I guess I just won't learn what human tooth enamel can tell us about the past today.

I haven't put a window AC back in for the summer yet and today it hit 91หš in my office. Please clap, I was able to ask meaningful questions during a meeting even though my fan was blowing oven air at me.
I suppose the main point I'm trying to get across here is that when there's an accidental security breach of this sort, it may be in part the fault of the individual who pushed the buttons, but we also need to look at the systemic and organizational issues that contributed to it. (6/6)
