@kwf what do you typically find the convergence time to be once the route is withdrawn?
@jjtech can you share any more information on this? We were looking to move from S3 but the reliability worries me too
@kwf I’ve often thought surely the best thing here is if the package manager load balanced across _multiple_ mirrors at a time and then worked out the best one to use automatically. I don’t use fedora but Ubuntu gets it wrong too - the CC DNS CNAMEs always end up giving me less than ideal performance. Even better, have the package management client download files from multiple mirrors for a single file with range requests (if larger than a certain size). There’s got to be some good heuristics you can derive from that!
@kwf HAOS on a Pi is brutal. I battled with it for a year before I switched the install to a VM running on Proxmox. Who’d have thought the UI would load in a “normal” amount of time and updates wouldn’t take hours 😂
@Viss “who the hell region locks an air purifier?!” 😂😂
@kwf your micromirror toots are super insightful to follow along - love hearing about the ins and outs of what you guys are doing
@kwf highly recommend attic stairs. Did this at our home, added attic stairs in between the rafters and then a whole lot of 2x4 and ply. Gave us about 10x more storage than the house had in the first place
@Viss just living in an easy to run house gets me excited. Heat pump and coffee machine on in the morning and off if no one is home at a certain time. Long presses on some light switches (mine are all push button for this reason) also toggles groups of lights / devices. On the way to bed at night I push and hold the hallway light, which turns every light and device off in the house except for the bedroom. Just general quality of life stuff! I have hardly any YAML config, so not sure what all the replies are relating to that?
