The fun thing about anycast is that when one of our servers goes down for 6 hours, we just... don't care. The Internet routes around it and the load is picked up by other locations until the server comes back.

The not fun thing about anycast is trying to get the load split sensibly in the first place. That's the part where you're trying to balance the ball on the peak of the hill.

@chriswiggins it's hard to measure. The moment we withdraw the traffic disappears since the router above us knows to not send the traffic to us.
