The most exceptional thing about America is how you can, in an instant, lose access to healthcare because you were so sick you dared to access that healthcare during paid time off from the job that healthcare is necessarily attached to. America is exceptionally cruel and wantonly greedy when it comes to…everything…but especially a suffering-mitigating, lifesaving public good that *everyone* should have full access to, without bankrupting themselves. Healthcare is a human right.

The National Coalition Against Censorship (NCAC) has released a new resource that provides practical advice for authors whose books are being challenged and banned in K-12 schools and libraries. The advice includes how to "seek support," "protect yourself," and "report censorship" and was prepared in collaboration with writers who have faced censorship. The resource is available on the NCAC website at ncac.org/resources.

If you know nothing else about medieval European illuminated manuscripts, you surely know the Book of Kells. “One of Ireland’s greatest cultural treasures” comments Medievalists.net, “it is set apart from other manuscripts of the same period by the quality of its artwork and the sheer number of illustrations that run throughout the 680 pages of the book.” The work not only attracts scholars, but almost a million visitors to Dublin every year. “You simply can’t travel to the capital of Ireland,” writes Book Riot’s Erika Harlitz-Kern, “without the Book of Kells being mentioned.
