Another rant: the other day I made a poll about looking at laptops and I mentioned I was looking into the Starlabs Horizon.

Not sure why I got it all mixed up but I'm pretty perplexed in their choice of using an Intel i3-N305. Maybe for better battery life? The more I looked into it, I guess I really don't know who this laptop is built for.

I'm still on the market but I think I'll end up getting a refurbished ThinkPad.

So I'm pretty sure I broke my middle toe after I stubbed it on a bench/chest last night. Don't think I'll be able to run that 5k this weekend.

On the bright side I did start building a framework for a blog using Hugo right before that.

These two things are completely unrelated but hey - that's life.

Good morning! I just got awarded the Arby's Peace Prize and I'm so excited!

I'm in the market for a new (or newish to me) laptop. My budget is roughly $800-1.1k USD. I think I've narrowed it down to a few but would love to hear the community's input.

This will be used for light development, studying, coding, and some light gaming.

Really big scoop (I don't think @briankrebs knows how big yet) here - he's tracked down somebody who says they are Rey from Lapsus$.

I don't wanna say why yet as I don't have all the pieces of the jigsaw, but I imagine this is going to turn into a long thread over time.

I use Hugo with the smolweb theme

As it's not been mentioned yet, Zola is also worth a look. Fast, single Rust executable.

Static Site Generator (SSG) - Recommendations?

Every winter, I seem to make time for myself to do a personal project. This time around I want to make a personal blog, and I figured an SSG would be the route. What is cool/hip these days? Hugo? Jekyll?

I'd like to know your suggestions/feedback/advice!

Best quote I've seen all day so far, from an Ars piece by @dangoodin on skepticism around OpenAI's breathless claim that a Chinese hacking group used Claude code to automate 90 percent of their attack:

β€œI continue to refuse to believe that attackers are somehow able to get these models to jump through hoops that nobody else can,” Dan Tentler, executive founder of Phobos Group and a researcher with expertise in complex security breaches, told Ars. β€œWhy do the models give these attackers what they want 90% of the time but the rest of us have to deal with ass-kissing, stonewalling, and acid trips?”

Researchers question Anthropic claim that AI-assisted attack was 90% autonomous

The results of AI-assisted hacking aren’t as impressive as many might have us believe.
