So I have already been rate limited from viewing twitter just from scrolling down my followed page. Guess I am going to be using Mastodon alot more now.
Some great news from Amo BD4VOW: NiceRF is now selling an open variant of SA868S modules which can be reprogrammed for compatibility with digital voice modes. No bypassing of flash protection mechanisms in the boot ROM required!

@edgetriggered Do you have any more information on how you achieved this, other then saying its basically just a modified OpenRTX driver for the onboard RF Chip. (Want to see if I can eventually get my ESP32 based FM Repeater working as an M17 Repeater.)

You’ve probably seen artists’ renderings of #Landsat satellites in orbit... but how about an *actual image* of a satellite in orbit?

Thanks to Maxar, we now have images of Landsat 8 orbiting Earth from the WorldView-3 satellite.

Enjoy! 🛰️

More experiments with the SA868: The module is transmitting #DMR generated by a custom #MMDVM connected to the BrandMeister network and successfully demodulated by a portable Motorola DMR radio. #amateurfunk #hamradio
@edgetriggered good question, it appeara to be connected to the ocillator there and probably the pad thay got ripped off by the can. (I should a desoldered it but the board its mounted on was junk anyways so I didnt want to heat up my iron for it.)

@edgetriggered

This is an SA818 thats currently attached to my last proto-type of my ESP32 based repeater. (Need to eventually get the new board produced which fits in an altoids tin.)

@edgetriggered I will see about it when I get home. Hoping I can find one of my SA818 and not just my SA868 I also have. (I also have a SA828)
@edgetriggered I wonder if this would also work for the SA818 since they are "supposedly" (NiceRF says so.) the same just the SA868 being higher power.
@edgetriggered This is awesome.
