在CCP的建构的历史语境中，民国时期充满战乱、贫穷、被列强侮辱……但冯客认为这是某国历史上最开放的时代。

the pursuit of openness was in four areas:
1. in governance and the advance of the rule of law and of newly acquired liberties;
2. in freedom of movement in and out of the country;
3. in open minds thriving on ideas from the humanities and sciences;
4. in open markets and sustained growth in the economy.

多数研究者都有热情，但并不意味着已经知道自己的“热情所在”。

你感兴趣的主题或问题是什么？
对你来说，“成功”是什么？
你的理想研究结果是什么？

如何平衡别人的建议和混乱的内省？

1.给别人看可以获得自我思考模式之外的视角
2.但跳过混乱的内省过程，直接遵从别人的建议并不能加快研究速度。
