I'm finding it a little hard to work today with this in my head.

Antarctic ice extent is now 6.4 standard deviations below the mean. That is, I'm reliably told, a one in 13 billion year event.

We're about to see a lot of shit hit a lot of fans. And we are far from ready.

Business as usual is over. Politics as usual is over. We need to be putting our effort into building systems that can help us survive what greed and power and wilful blindness have wrought.

Indigofera australis ā€˜Australian Indigo’. What a beauty! Native plant of the Adelaide Hills, grows well in cooler climates. Nitrogen fixing, so it improves the soil and flowers this well in a semi shade position. Delicate foliage and spectacular flowers in Spring. Butterfly attracting. It’s leaves can be used in natural dying process. Relatively fast growing too. I planted this one as tube stock only 2 years ago and is already a sizeable shrub. #bloomscrolling #wildoz #australia #nativeplants
Vaccination in pregnancy greatly reduces risk of severe illness and death from COVID-19, and protects babies up to 6 months after birth

COVID-19 vaccination has been shown to be safe in pregnancy, and protects both the mother and infant from severe disease. It’s now also clear that infants’ antibody protection continues after birth.

One thing you should know is that I'm going to be open about what my family is doing with regard to pandemic precautions, what information we're using, what factors we're considering, and what sort of sustainable balance we're aiming for. I expect to engage in discussions with others who are also trying to navigate this difficult situation. If that upsets you because you believe it's a matter of all or nothing, then I'm not someone to follow. I'm not repeating the Twitter experience here.
@TinaH @[email protected] I’m so sorry. Trans kids deserve so much more than this. I feel like I don’t want to watch this show now. Too distressing. šŸ˜¢šŸ˜”šŸ˜” I’m glad my son and I decided to watch light comedy instead.
@[email protected] I haven’t watched it yet, but can tell already it’s going to be distressing. Why can’t people understand we’re talking about real people.šŸ³ļøā€āš§ļø You can’t have an ā€œopinionā€ on the existence of my loved ones. 😢 I hate the politicised nature of this. It just causes pain. ā€œBoth-sidismā€ is not good journalism, it just platforms hate groups and makes it harder for already vulnerable trans kids. šŸ˜¢šŸ˜”šŸ˜”
@TRyanGregory it’s nicer over here. Good to still be able to read your thoughts over here.
@strayhorse precision stacking! I love it! I’ll have to up my woodstacking game! Thanks for the tip. We have a few windfalls which we cut for firewood. Unfortunately last Spring we lost 4 giant Stringybark Eucalypts in a wild storm which decimated our little native forest. We ended up getting some of the larger trunks milled into timber of various sizes which we will use for beams & rafters for a pergola. This species is marketed as ā€˜Tasmanian Oak’ in Australia and is a beautiful timber.
