Also shows how useless the SNCB International app is: despite having push notifications on, I haven't heard a peep and it doesn't even know about the delay yet.

NS International's infinite notifications after just one minute of delay might be annoying, but at least you'll get info. Only the Germans seem to have figured out an easy replanning interface, tho, that I'm still missing everywhere else.

I kinda assumed there was little difference between systems on the HSL-Zuid/4, but our loc clearly didn't agree since we came to a halt right after crossing the border. After about 50 minutes we're finally on our way again.
Despite multiple announcements that the connection was guaranteed, the 12:25 to Charleroi that was supposed to replace our cut-short EC left right as we pulled in 🫠 time for a slow train through reception hell (@ IC 2912 ➜ Louvain / Leuven) #NowTräwelling https://traewelling.de/status/7156089

ssh is an obscure but widely-deployed command. It stands for Secure Snake Home and was made in the 90s to securely play snake online

I made a massively multiplayer backend for it with support for thousands of concurrent snake players

ssh snakes.run to join!

Born #onthisday in 1868, the US sociologist + civil rights activist W. E. B. Du Bois. Celebrate with a look at the stunning hand-drawn "infographics" he made with his students, depicting conditions of African-American life in 1900: https://publicdomainreview.org/collection/w-e-b-du-bois-hand-drawn-infographics-of-african-american-life-1900 #otd #BlackHistoryMonth
Ah yes, I forgot that it's one of the random carnaval days, so taking the train through Brabant is a chaotic mess full of drunk people in costumes. What I am surprised by: the train from Breda to Rotterdam is also full with them, but it's only half past 8? Either they're going to party above the rivers (doubtful) or they're heading home (but the night's only just started?)

Also, of course, you can't use the Belgian discount system in the NS app.

Now, I can just book a trip to Breda and use my OV-chip to check in with 100% discount there, but it simply shouldn't be this hard (and that's a separate ticket, so I'd lose out on delay compensation).

A nice example case for @erpu eventually, perhaps?
