MarilynPFSomeone gave me great advice when I started here. Don’t be a wallflower, just scrolling through your timeline. Boost the posts that made you stop a moment. Say hello to others. You’ll be an “old-timer” in a few days. Don’t just follow all the same people who are like you. Use your filter to not see topics that wear you down. Visit other countries through their photos. • Add a photo and bio, then write an introductory post with the #introduction hashtag.
• Use an app like Debirdify to find your Twitter followers and follows on Mastodon.

• Know this isn’t Twitter. Don’t just push out links. Mastodon is a great place to chat and network with other journos!
Emma KennedyTop tip if you're using mastodon on your mobile, there's an App called Toot - you do have to make a small one off payment for it - but it's much better than the official app. Super user friendly. Migrants from the Bird Place will find it more what they're used to.

Right now Mastodon is only receiving appr. $21,000/month through Patreon.
This is not enough to handle the 1 million new accounts that will be made this week.
Currently, only 4,720 patrons are donating to Mastodon.
However, if everyone chips in $2/month, this will ensure the continued survival of Mastodon!
