Because the FSF is pro-capitalism, they don't view Android being controlled by Google to be a problem as long as the code is available. The code is no longer available for some of the most recent versions, making the FSF closed source capitalist collaborators and hypocrites, not that it's too much of a surprise because they've said that firmware being closed is fine if you can't change it, but if it can be changed, it's bad even if it's open because...
