If you're fairly tech-literate, you're probably having a lot of conversations with non tech people about AI, which is good because we all need to be working out where it belongs in our lives.
I think it's particularly important that we separate these two things:
AI as a concept and a SCIENCE (which clearly has immense potential to help our world in many ways and clearly should be developed), from
The many irresponsible IMPLEMENTATIONS of AI that take over all public discourse (the hyper-hungry commercial entities rushing into the future with zero care for what they trample or destroy, the weird billionaires who see it as their mission to control the world, the governments wanting to dominate culture globally, the shortsighted idiots using it to irreversibly damage the internet and the climate as they fill it with shit just to make a few bucks, etc
The first should be supported, while the second needs to be fought against. It's not easy but let's to try to educate everyone.
