@eloquence I wouldn't call them grassroots, but propublica https://www.propublica.org/ has been a reliable and independent in my view.

@nixCraft Fast Fetch is a good alternative.

And Yuzu is gone. Fuck.

I mean, you can still run it; it's open source; it doesn't need much more functionality than it already has (although I guess it is never going to support macOS x.x). Same with Citra. For Switch there is also Ryujinx for now.

But what about the next console? We don't know whether Nintendo would have prevailed if it had gone to trial, but they had a lot of legal tools. In the future, these things need to be done anonymously. And someday the law must change.

@freevolt24 @nixCraft I think this is intentional, most VR, ahem, I mean "spatial computing" experiences are underwhelming when viewed on a 2D screen. Seeing other people using it is part of the marketing. It's why they went with distinctive white cords on the EarPods (which continued with the AirPods).

@bjmendelson I'm not sure where I land on this. There's some precedent that using copyrighted materials can fall under fair use (Google scanning books to provide text search and even showing text snippets, Cliffnotes). Obviously a purported AI model that merely stores copyrighted works where the works could be reproduced en masse without restriction would be infringing, but providing summaries and commentary is (generally) fair use.

It's going to be interesting to see how this plays out.

Helpful tip: Instead of using ISO 8601, you can avoid ambiguity about mm-dd-yyyy and dd-mm-yyyy formats by simply refusing to reference the first twelve days of any month
