FEDIVERSE NOTICE -- PLEASE BOOST!

To all Calckey.social users:

The preparations are finally complete. We will be migrating to firefish.social soon. All your posts, dms, etc will be in-tact.

To all Fediverse server admins:

You and your users will probably see a lot of follows from firefish.social. Please don't be alarmed, this is going to be the result of everyone migrating their account at once. Since there are only ~2500 users here, it hopefully shouldn't be too much pressure on your servers, but to be safe, it's slightly staggered to avoid bombarding a server all at once.

Me: Mastodon is the best. People are friendly, there's no manipulative algorithm, and it's full of interesting content.

Journalist: Amazing, the headline of my article will be "Mastodon is social media's new hope".

Me: Also, there are no ads.

Journalist: Interesting. Let's change that headline to "Mastodon is a toxic cesspool that is already dead".

I
❀️ but the federated discover in the app feels like a bit of a step back. I love the idea of seeing photos from all over fedi but now I'm seeing tons of screenshots of text instead of pics. This may be unrelated but the discover tab is also dong city now. I'm not gonna lose any sleep over a stray dick or two popping up on screen, but it's probably not the experience most expect.

What I'd really find useful is at least an option for the discover page to show federated
pixelfed instances. A similar TL would also be great. It's actually kind of hard to discover #pixelfed users outside p.s since they're drowned out on the fedi TL, and on the discover page I'd assume, by Mastodon users.
