Twitter formalizes blocking of accounts and tweets that encourage readers to follow you on other social media sites, including Mastodon.

Specific examples of violating tweets given in the policy:

> “follow me @username on Instagram”

> “[email protected]

Note that the following are *also* violations under the new policy:

* Circumventing the rule via technical methods (e.g. using a non-breaking space in the URL)

* Spelling out the handle explicitly (e.g. "I'm at username AT mastodon DOT social" is violation)

* Sharing a screenshot showing the handle.

Curious how long until my account on birbsite is suspended now, since my name is my Mastodon handle and literally can't be changed lol. Let's wait and see.

Lol. Musk is seeing the exodus, so he's trying to bar the doors as everyone rushes for the exits.

What do the midterms mean for US support to Ukraine?

Not much. But here's what to watch for in the lame duck session.

This week's newsletter was about a small "trick" for reading flamegraphs: https://www.getrevue.co/profile/nateberkopec/issues/flamegraphs-look-at-the-tips-not-the-base-1439426
Flamegraphs: Look At The Tips, Not The Base

Reading flamegraphs is hard. It takes practice. But here's one shortcut.Probably a day doesn't go by when I don't look at some kind of flamegraph or waterfall visualization, usually in Speedscope or Chrome DevTools.I teach how to read flamegraphs in a lot of my books and in my workshop, but it's something that I always see people struggle with. To some extent, reading and understanding these things is just a skill, and skills need constant practice. However, if I had to break down flamegraph-rea…

@davidzipper so frustrating. At what point does someone become liable for their dangerous choice of automobile?

My new article in Slate: https://slate.com/business/2022/11/suv-size-truck-bloat-pedestrian-deaths.html

More and more Americans assume “safe car” means “bigger SUV than the other guy.”

That trend is a big reason US streets have grown more deadly. And road safety groups are enabling it.
