#4 - Learn to say, "It's none of my business."

Don't understand someone's desire to use neo pronouns? None of your business. Can't understand why someone is a furry? None of your business. Curious about how someone who talks about being poor can have a Starbucks in that last selfie they posted? None of your damn business.

I keep seeing that “first they came for the journalists” sign, and it pisses me off so much, because when they came for muslims, immigrants, and trans people, mainstream journalists normalized it and reported it as “both sides”. Somehow it didn’t count for them until it was happening to them personally, which is *exactly* what the fucking poem was warning against in the first place.

#7books to get to know me:

1. Catch 22, Joseph Heller

2. 1984, George Orwell

3. Schismatrix, Bruce Sterling

4. The Left Hand of Darkness, Ursula Le Guin

5. Soon I will be Invincible, Austin Grossman

6. Gideon the Ninth, Tamsyn Muir

7. Pattern Recognition, William Gibson

If you download your #Twitter archive it arrives wrapped as a static HTML page, which is not very useful for doing anything with, and worse: it requires the original account to be still active to do useful things like enlarge the images since they use t.co links.

So here's a #Python script to convert a Twitter archive to #markdown or other formats: https://github.com/timhutton/twitter-archive-parser

Now you can archive your tweets in any way you want.

“I’ll admit it: I let the right, and political analysts who were listening to the right, psych me out.

There was never much hard evidence that a red wave was coming. Since the imperious Supreme Court scrapped Roe v. Wade, Democrats have over-performed in special elections, and the pro-choice side won an overwhelming victory in a Kansas referendum on abortion.” Republicans Did Not Read the Room

Opinion | Republicans Did Not Read the Room

It turns out that voters care about abortion and democracy after all.

Hope to see at least two years of articles about how Republicans who shouted "defund the FBI" are out of touch with real Americans

Many political reporters are saying today that “all the evidence” pointed to a Democratic rout, but that it didn’t happen because [speculative explanation of their choice].
I’d love to have them admit that what they presented as evidence just isn’t anymore, starting with polling.
Maybe then the NYT would finally give up that ludicrous needle & the WaPo would not treat election predictions like an Oscar office pool.
