‘At one point, one of the six attendees showed Biden printed photos of malnourished Palestinian children, according to NBC News. The president said that he had seen the pictures before, but that was unlikely: The attendee, a doctor, said the photos were from her own phone.

“This speaks volumes to the dismissive nature of the administration when it comes to strong-willed action towards a permanent cease-fire or, at a bare minimum, a red line on the invasion of Rafah,” Dr. Nahreen H. Ahmed told NBC News.

Another doctor — Dr. Thaer Ahmad, a physician who worked at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis earlier this year — walked out before the 90-minute gathering had concluded, later telling CNN he did so “out of respect for the Palestinian people, who are mourning, who are grieving.”’

Biden’s Meeting With Muslim Community Leaders on Gaza Was Disastrous

At a small White House event Tuesday between President Joe Biden and a group of Muslim American leaders, tensions were high and morale was low.

Time to catch up on Bad Batch. That should take my mind off fascism for a bit.

"The San Francisco Board of Supervisors unanimously approved legislation Tuesday that expedites the process for installing 33 automated speed enforcement cameras, San Francisco Mayor London Breed’s office said in a news release. The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Authority will be responsible for finding a contractor to design, operate and maintain the cameras by 2025.

According to the mayor’s office, the legislation will take a year off the planned installation process. The mayor’s office did not respond to SFGATE’s request for further information about how it will accelerate this process."

'On Friday, a federal judge gave the green light for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to proceed with its suit against Tesla for “severe or pervasive racial harassment” of workers at its Fremont manufacturing plant.

The suit joins two lawsuits currently pending in Alameda County Superior Court that also allege there has been a racially hostile work environment at the factory.'

"Applications for rent relief close May 1, with city officials aiming to dole out funds in July. To qualify, applicants must be adults, have a lease agreement, agree to a residence inspection and cannot live in Section 8 housing, which is a rent subsidy from the state. The money goes directly to the applicants’ landlords to ensure it is used for rent."

'For longtime residents, the promise of a new grocer coming to the space at the corner of Third St. and Carroll Ave. is liable to create a bit of déjà vu. Duc Loi Pantry opened up its 14,000-square-foot location at the site in 2016 to great fanfare and with the help of sizeable financial support from city officials. A little more than two years later, the store was closed, with the owners citing a lack of business.

Neighbors, however, said the grocer failed to ingratiate itself in the largely Black, Latino and Asian community by stocking culturally relevant items and offering affordable products. Since 2019, the storefront has remained boarded up and vacant.'

SF’s Bayview becomes less of a food desert with new grocery store

A perennial grievance for Bayview residents is the fact they leave the neighborhood to get the resources they need on a regular basis. But a new grocery store coming to the area could help turn the tide.

'The Standard has confirmed details of the campaign kickoff with multiple political activists, retired leaders and Chinese community members. Peskin called and invited these people to the event, which will be held at Portsmouth Square at 11 a.m. Some said Peskin called them as early as last week to inform them of his plans.

Records provided by the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department show that the Rose Pak Democratic Club, a progressive Asian American political group, reserved Portsmouth Square from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, paying a $360 permit fee for a “Chinatown Community Rally.” The applicant, Calvin Yan, is a member of the club and a staffer in Peskin’s office.'
