We're in a daily battle with nihilism. That's what fuels and foments on the right: absolute anti-rational nihilism. Isn't it funny that so-called religious conservatives, who validate themselves on faith, are so comfortable with people who proudly believe in nothing at all and undercut the notion that anything can be known, after all? Isn't it funny?

Planet's cooking. Need to get to work building a rocket to launch my baby into space. Now that I say it out loud, the plan sounds crazy.

The feature set of a social media platform obviously matters, but what matters MORE is the aggregate user base, and we all know this and feel this.

Lamenting, along with everybody else, that we're waking up in an America where discrimination is permissible under law, where women are deprived of bodily autonomy, where race-blind ignorance has been upheld as policy, and where students who have been over-charged for vital education can be refused assistance. Disgusted. Sorry. I'll post something uplifting shortly, but I'm not there yet.

We're in the stage of ... this ... in which when a system or process actually works (temp SCOTUS procedural on mifepristone) the way it should, we're all surprised and momentarily comforted. None of this is normal.
