After Google decided to delete my account with no warning nor explanation, my appeal was granted and they reinstated the account (with some caveats). Again, no explanation. No apology.

They asked me to fill out a survey on the experience. GLADLY. Here's what I get when I follow the survey link.

Something tells me they know what my feedback would be, and they aren't that interested.

Another #LiquidGlass problem: the horizontal scrollbar in Safari is cut off on the left due to the increased radius of the window "corner".

The first attached image shows the left edge of the scrollbar while it is not all the way to the left. The second image shows how it is cut off when scrolled all the way to the left.

I got a BMOW FloppyEmu for my #Apple IIc and made an insert to expose it in the 5.25" drive opening. This prototype is pretty close to the final version. I just need to tighten a couple of tolerances and I'll be happy.

I extended wires for the buttons and the display from the FloppyEmu board and used a microsd extender to bring that out to the panel.

The IIc itself needed only minor repairs to get running from its original Flea Market condition.

Disclaimer: I'm about as far from being a UI/UX person as you can get.

Having said that, if I had an employee who demoed a project with a UI like the one in the attached screenshot, I would discreetly talk to their manager afterwards and ask if we needed to get that person some additional training.

A friend of a friend gave me their old #PowerMac 8500 with Sonnet G3 upgrade. There was no internal drive so I mounted an internal BlueSCSI.

The plastic is super-brittle. Pretty much any part I touched snapped into pieces. I got things back together again with some 3D printing, magnets, and glue.

Now I just need to decide what to do with it. I'm out of shelf space for old computers and this isn't high enough on my list to displace something else. Into the attic for now…

If you have a #BambuLab #AMS, you might be interested in the "AMS PTFE Access Mod". You cut an opening in the bottom of the AMS that provides access to the PTFE couplers so you can easily clean out broken filament. A TPU "plug" fits into a printed border to make the unit more airtight.

I modified 2 units, and while it is somewhat nerve-racking to cut the case, I am happy with the result. I used the "TPU for AMS" filament from Bambu for the 1st time and it worked well.

I went out today and did a faux POTA - a FOTA, if you will. For the non #hamradio folks, POTA is Parks on the Air. You take a radio and antenna to a national or state park and try to make at least 10 contacts while you're there.

I wasn't at a designated POTA site. I just went out to spend some time outdoors and to remind myself how to use my portable gear. I'm glad I did - it took me a while to get into the swing of it.

Now I just need to do it more often so it stays fresh.

At the Mecum car auction this morning as part of Monterey Car Week. Always a blast.

I may be biased, but I think 1960 was a very good year.

As it turns out, this is the oldest Mac I have ever touched and probably ever will. It's the 2397th Mac ever built - it came to life in the 2nd week of Mac production.

And... it runs. It booted right into System 2. The floppy works, the display is crisp, sound works, and the mouse/keyboard are both functional. I haven't assessed the internals yet, but I couldn't be more thrilled.

The little clip below shows it. running Grid Wars.

I had both these books in college but got rid of them. Now I’ve got them again!
