@tschak How good is the Sun emulation? I remember UAE did a decent job at covering the Amiga custom chips and 68k. I don’t know enough about sparc — are there custom chips or other sparc-specific things that qemu has to emulate?
@m2m @Onmyom That explains my confusion; thanks!
I agree with both perspectives; IA Writer has done a great job at sticking to its niche and doing it well. On the other hand, it’s not a bad reminder to keep it that way.
I wish it had git integration because I don’t use Dropbox. When I’ve searched for working around this, people mention another application to sync files. I haven’t tried that approach but I do appreciate that “do one thing and do it well” philosophy from Unix.
@m2m @Onmyom I just read the post on how much they appreciate IA Writer and buying their first Mac. I didn’t see any complaints. Perhaps the wrong blog post is linked?
@pinkunz @root42 to add to this, it would probably be best to buy a good (large) monitor with whatever features are important such as 120hz or frame rate syncing, etc… Of course, it will be more expensive.
@luana @simonbs Agreed. Your comment is going to be one of my first boosts, haha.
@dddaaannn looks great!
@jeff I was asked by a CTO once if I was a pragmatic programmer during our interview. I asked him to clarify as I wasn’t familiar with it. He asked if I strive to make something function over perfection … or something along those lines. I got the job. The CTO was the biggest micromanager I’ve ever seen. He was also terrible at software development and engineering. He was so pragmatic that they did a lot of unethical things with people’s data; personal & financial. I left. They made billions.
@Eggfreckles This was really a thing!? 🤯
@luna right there with you. Would much rather be in tune with myself and nature than banks, government, schools, or arbitrary “business hours”. Still struggling in mid-30s and my sleep hygiene + exercise is not terrible. It doesn’t help the sun sets at like 4pm here during the Winter.
@msh If anyone follows you, and they see your follower-only posts, then they can copy that content to share it with others. Ethically, this is not cool. Technically, it makes sense. It sounds like an issue with the protocol or reliance on Mastadon for selective audiences. I don’t believe blocking everyone who tried to do this is the answer. (Assuming I understood the OP and comments; I am not familiar with this functionality)
