Web fanboy. A decade in the frontend dev trenches, now teaching new web developers at Business Academy Aarhus how to navigate this crazy world we’ve built out of JS.

Into #RemixRun and the #UseThePlatform resurgence. And #Indieweb is rekindling my original love for the open web.

I can't stop thinking about it. One was prosecuted by the US for downloading copyrighted data from 1 source for noble purposes, and committed suicide to avoid prison. The other is widely celebrated for doing this on a much larger scale*.

With every year that goes by, my loathing for the phrase “content creation” (also “content creator” and the verbal “create content”) increases. From 11 years ago: https://www.tbray.org/ongoing/When/201x/2013/12/14/Discontent

Y’all know what this #WordPress kerfuffle means, right? We need to wake good ol’ #Textpattern from its long slumber. It’s been lying in waiting, carefully maintained, ready for a resurrection.

It was the reason I never got on the WP train back in the early aughts. Textpattern just jived much more with my web sensibilities. And Dean Allen was a mf’ing king.

google ai LOVES to step in when it sees “vs” and will try its hardest to compare whatever you throw at it

“It turns out, people in tech are particularly bad at distinguishing between paradigm *shifts* and paradigm *sharts*.

That’s why we have nose-diving cryptocurrencies, dust-collecting monkey JPEG portfolios, and AI-generated children’s books teaching kids about pink, two-headed dinosaurs that never existed.”

I love me some Tailwind and only semi-agree with this tirade, but @heydon is an international treasure for his humor and sarcasm:

Introducing my students to React via the brilliantly approachable Waku framework, so they learn RSC and the new React 19 mental model from the start.

And they’re building personal portfolios to put it into practice, which has me all fired up to create my own personal website. I feel like I should be kicked off this indieweb.social server for not currently having one 😅

Not a lot of overlap in the React + Indieweb Venn diagram. Anyone know of interesting work being done?

Me, an idiot: “So, kids, by setting the thermostat a little lower and eating less meat, we’re doing our part to make the world more sustainable”

VCs, very smart: “We just raised $100 billion dollars from the sovereign wealth funds of three petrostates to build the world’s largest AI supercomputer. It uses as much power and water as Guatemala and the primary use case is for management consultants to autogenerate powerpoints for justifying mass layoffs.”

Would you like to install our new feature 'help me write' in your browser? It's a text-generating spell made from the ground-up bones and wrung-out hearts of underpaid writers, sprinkled with algorithms torn from the livers of overpaid AI engineers whose ethics team colleagues were all fired for revealing how the spell was cast.
