Asked the resident 6-year old K-POP DEMON HUNTERS expert which song he think should’ve won and he picked “Love, Maybe” — if you haven’t heard it 7 million times, it’s a sentimental Fogelberg-esque adult contemporary jam all in Korean. Our son “sings” every word, or at least hits all the syllables.

To help LLMs do math (famously tricky for transformer architectures) researchers implemented web assembly in the model weights. That’s FASCINATING. The models can perform arithmetic without having to reach for a calculator.

Can LLMs Be Computers? | Percepta

We build a computer inside a transformer — executing arbitrary C programs for millions of steps with exponentially faster inference via 2D attention heads.

Unexpectedly stopped by the grocery store last weekend while waiting to pick up an item I would later have to return and came upon some fulsome leeks so of course I made leek confit and now I have leek confit for my scrambled eggs and sometimes life can just be so beautiful you know.

This is great news for decentralized social. @thisismissem has been doing great work on FedCM and OAuth for years and is now going to focus on bringing FedCM to protocols like Activity Pub and atproto. And this brings us one step closer to browser-based tools that can replace “Log in with your ${centralized_platform}”

The way everyone regardless of race, creed, or religion treats the posted speed limit as a floor with 15mph of ceiling — whether in a school parking lot, residential street, or highway — is going to be what turns me into Michael Douglas in FALLING DOWN.
It is both ageist and disinformation to tell me the last Gnarls Barkley album came out 18 years ago.

Bluesky CTO (and my ultimate boss) wrote a sharp piece about practical decentralization that I think does a good job of summing up the atproto ethos. It’s been encouraging to see some similar moves from Activity Pub of late — relays, DIDs — I hope we’ll both keep moving in this direction.

Practical Decentralization

The point of decentralization is to guarantee the rights of individuals and communities on the Internet. Pulling that off is a balancing act between practicality and ideology.
