If someone you're with is wearing a mask, don't ask if they want you to wear one, too. Just put one on.
Masks have become contentious and it's really uncomfortable to be on the side of asking someone to mask. Don't put someone in the position of feeling like they have to give you their personal health history to rationalize their request. Just put a fucking mask on.
I mentioned this before but compare the care and attention given to their ad for the person who will run Trust & Safety on Post (230K users in, they finally want to have one): https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/Post/f64bca4c-a034-4f75-bcb0-68b78a0a81dc

Which matters to them more?
From time to time there’s debates on whether fundamentals (accessibility, security, privacy, etc) should be staffed by a central team or if “it’s everyone’s responsibility”.
IMHO you need both. A team of dedicated experts with organizational influence/backing, who can set best practices and provide resources; and a cultural expectation that best practices will be learned and incorporated into core product development processes.
