Every day I learn that I was wrong yesterday.
@Tuuktuuk yeah I understand that, but 'AI' as a shorthand name for a variety of machine learning models does predate the existence of LLMs as we understand them today. It's true that the name could be misleading, but it has precedence
@Tuuktuuk yeah that's fair. I tend to go by common use as opposed to literal definition, though I think both are valid ways to go about your life
@Tuuktuuk Ah, so to you ‘AI’ is what is usually meant by ‘AI Agent’
@Tuuktuuk @aud depends on what exactly you mean by AI but yes
@aud It certainly seems like LLMs are overextended in the sense that they are not profitable and yet being used everywhere, but I think it's another thing entirely to say that they are not ‘inevitable’. Surely any new technology that has at least *some* use is in some way inevitable? Even if it won't be main stream in a few years, there ought to be some company somewhere using it for some purpose, and I fail to see how we can prevent that…
@synlogic4242 Right, that's pretty concerning. Surely as one of the most watched repositories out there, there will be human beings looking at the AI code and using sound judgement to determine if it is of acceptable quality?
@synlogic4242 Wait, is AI code being used in the vim repo?
@waystation ah alright, thanks for the advice
@waystation will it damage my pen if the paper isn't made for it?
@waystation I didn't know there was such a thing as fountain pen paper.
