this specifically means: they rejected covering Wikipedia in AI slop. This means a generational gap apparently. ok mate

Do any experts on #PoliticalPhilosophy or #politics in general have an explanation for why we don't see more checks and balances in democratic countries today?

It seems like #democracy of the past (namely Athens) had some useful concepts which could help today. But it doesn't really matter what the specific implementation is, my main gripe is that we don't even seem to try to balance the system. We seem to be content just creating a system and forgetting about it.

Hey, you want to be able to access the Internet anonymously from within the UK?

Nope, you're not going to be allowed that.

Petition: Do not ban children from using virtual private networks

We call upon the UK Government to reject any calls or lobbying that propose to restrict or ban the use of virtual private networks ("VPNs") for children, because of the impact this would have on other VPN users.

Just took the time to modify my .XCompose file for the first time. Really worthwhile if you're tired of repeatedly copying #Unicode characters on your #archlinux machine, that is supposing you're using X.
Holy moly! Make sure you occasionally run 'pacman -Sc'! I just freed up more than fifty gigs on my #archlinux #thinkpad !

Reworking my #introduction

I am an independent scholar of various humanities. I am often distracted from those studies by writing poetry. I have lived with disability my entire adult life. I spent the majority of my life below the poverty line. I earned a master's as an adult to escape, but barely an inch.

I am big believer in community driven intra-degrowth, that is, degrowth that is more concerned with the immediate area, with each community doing the same. Degrowth that is feminist, anti-violence learning, care driven, open access anti-intellectual leader, and it is only in anti-utopianism that we can find a truer utopia.

There are more and more drifting towards an idea of holistic and mutually beneficial progress and in that there is hope. Open stewardship of open, shared education is the only way to assure if progress comes in the form of open access and anti-thought leaders so more individuals will be better able to maintain that shared progress.

#LaTeX has ruined how I pronounce anything ending in 'tex'
TIL, an open source internet search engine called MarginaliaSearch exists. It mainly for text-oriented websites, specifically indexing the 'small, old, and weird' web. You can even run it on your own server if you have 32GiB of RAM and plenty of fast SSD space for the index. This is perfect for those seeking an alt search engine, but more importantly, it teaches you how to build a search system and manage its dataset. It’s a fantastic CS learning experience to satisfy your itch.
The two hardest problems in Computer Science are:

1. Getting up in the morning
2. Going to bed at a reasonable time

imo you can only want an algo here if you fail to understand the civic value of this place. decentralized social media fixes the problem of mass media by letting us collectively determine what's worth our attention. #DemocracyOfReach

without that conception of the potential of this medium, it becomes but an entertaining technological accident. a toy or recreational drug. do whatever you want with it. let them fuck with our brains. see what happens. why not. #SocialWeb
