@LianaBrooks no worries, it’s an interesting idea- all the best!

@ct_bergstrom Have you tried Bing chat? It is based on a newer GPT model and always provides linked references. I do believe that a different layer provides the references after the fact, but it does seem less likely to make up plausible sounding trash.
@AlasdairStuart Hey - I'm at about the same place in Duolingo Italian. Good luck!
@stux I'm just curious, are you asking it to be concise when you send a request? I notice your interface seems a lot less verbose than the ChatGPT one (that is, unless you request verbosity).
@anthony yes, I use mastodon as a news source replacing twitter. I’ve done this by essentially using a mix of mastodon and twitter accounts using the “twitter bridge servers”. If there is an account on twitter that you followed, like OsIntTechnical, who has well sourced and analyzed reporting about the Ukraine war, I go to the server twtr.carnivore.social, and put in the twitter account that I want to follow, resulting in @osinttechnical. I then follow that, along with purely mastodon accounts.

PSA: take some time in 2023 to back up your/your family's CD-Rs (and other recordable media) full of memories you threw into storage 10+ years ago; there's a decent chance they've started to rot!

the tenuously thin layer of dyes/adhesives holding the data *will* break down over time, rapidly so if their environment is uncontrolled, the surface was previously nicked/contaminated, or they were cheap ones to begin with

@R3D he looks so sweet in that photo. I’m sure it’s not an easy thing to not have him around anymore. All the best and my sympathies.
@stux you seem like a really decent guy @stux . All the best to you.

The German word "hören" means "to hear". But it has funny relatives:

anhören = to listen
zuhören = to listen (a bit more active than anhören)
umhören = to ask around
abhören = to wiretap, to auscultate
überhören = to not hear
erhören = to hear and react to (eg. a plea or a prayer)
gehören = to belong to
angehören = to be a member of
satthören = to get enough of hearing

Should I rather aufhören*? OK.

Enjoy our language!
