I’m a white British trans woman with chronic pain and I write The Sisters of Dorley, among other things.

After reading many different stories written by @badambulist, I have concluded that the character I most closely relate to is Bridget from "The Catch."

Just think of me as a sober transfem version of Bridget.

Although, many people who meet me in person assume I'm a stoner, even though I'm not. It's my brain that does this. I don't even need weed.

So maybe I'm the stoner transfem version of Bridget, LOL.

@timberwraith outstanding tbh
and yeah sure loads of these authors hadn’t figured themselves out when they wrote the stories — and I guess many still haven’t — and ofc some authors were/are Genuinely Cis, but that first step, that a trans woman is someone who exists and is worthy of love, is one most mainstream media STILL refuses to take
anyway part of the reason I love “classic” TG stories of the sort that populate BC and FM and (sigh) TGST is that so many of them are functionally romances, and I am an incurable romantic who grew up utterly starved of romances with leads who were even slightly legible to me
God I hate that this post gets more relevant with every passing week.

For the UK specifically, I transitioned in a lucky era in that I got onto the GRS waiting lists in the mid-00s and got the op in 2008, only a few years before the Tories started breaking everything. So from a GRS POV and in the UK specifically, things were better in the mid-00s.

But if you just want to start transition, if you want to grab a life for yourself to live, it’s a hundred times better now. Self-med; job done. Fuck the NHS.

has the concept of "transfeminine people being able to harmlessly vent some of our frustration at institutional patriarchal oppression" gone too far? we've assembled this diverse panel of white men in bow ties to discuss this issue

Got a favour to ask, folks.

My electrolysis is going to cost somewhere around $9000 over two years, and I'm launching a fundraising campaign to help defray those costs.

Any little bit helps, whether it's a donation or a reshare.

As a thank you for contributors, I made an exceedingly silly fantasy adventure called Save the Jacks! which you can grab at itch.io here:
