Today we went from “random pile of gears on the table” to “an actual clock”! #3dprinting #BrianMakesAClock
Oh hey, we accidentally made a nice triadic color scheme! #BrianMakesAClock #3dprinting
the kid and I made some good progress today. Colored the faces with crayon rubbing and assembled a couple more parts of the gear chain! #BrianMakesAClock
Victory! ✌️ #BrianMakesAClock
for comparison’s sake, here’s the same model with too-high and too-low expansion settings. Too much adjustment leads to holes and structural issues, while too little means that all of the dimensions of the gear are too big in the horizontal planes.
Wellllll these adjustments don’t appear to have worked. Super stringy. I probably need to back off the material expansion settings! This is supposed to have a 11-tooth gear post on top too, but it completely failed to print. #BrianMakesAClock
good news: screws fit perfectly in the ratchet and pawl. Amazing clicky noise but I can’t get a video uploaded for some reason? #BrianMakesAClock
good news: the bearings all fit in the clock base, which means I tuned the expansion settings right on this 9-hour print. 😅 #BrianMakesAClock
