Today we went from “random pile of gears on the table” to “an actual clock”! #3dprinting #BrianMakesAClock
Oh hey, we accidentally made a nice triadic color scheme! #BrianMakesAClock #3dprinting
the kid and I made some good progress today. Colored the faces with crayon rubbing and assembled a couple more parts of the gear chain! #BrianMakesAClock
Victory! ✌️ #BrianMakesAClock
the gear print finally worked! (dance dance yeah!) Gonna have to do the next ones in the chain before I can show anything more than "lol here is another picture of a gear" but promising so far! #BrianMakesAClock
Wellllll these adjustments don’t appear to have worked. Super stringy. I probably need to back off the material expansion settings! This is supposed to have a 11-tooth gear post on top too, but it completely failed to print. #BrianMakesAClock
bad news: some of the first parts I printed had the wrong material expansion settings and they’re too big. Gears mesh but push each other off their posts. Yeesh. Gonna have to re-print at least some of the gears… might be all of them. 😬 #BrianMakesAClock
good news: screws fit perfectly in the ratchet and pawl. Amazing clicky noise but I can’t get a video uploaded for some reason? #BrianMakesAClock
the very-specifically-sized screws just came. ASSEMBLY BEGINS SOON #BrianMakesAClock
good news: the bearings all fit in the clock base, which means I tuned the expansion settings right on this 9-hour print. 😅 #BrianMakesAClock
