An ocean and a lagoon

Yesterday and last night California was hit by an atmospheric river bringing lots of rain and the flooding that comes along with it. Combined with a spring high tide, the storm surge gave us tremen…

My friend @JanousekWild reminds me that on #phycologyfriday we celebrate the #algae. Hard to choose a favorite, but over the past few field seasons I've fallen in love with these sea sacs, #Halosaccionglandiforme.

Just in time for #Halloween, I remember that I wrote about #zombies—zombees, actually—a few years ago! #beekeeping

Does anyone else keep a #naturejournal, or record observations of the natural world? For me, it's a valuable way to touch base with nature and tune in to what's going on in the world. And oh yeah, it's #notsupposedtobeart!
My feline overlords, taking my nap again, as usual. Lucie is the calico and Maggie is the tortie. #caturday
Another newbie here, searching for a social platform that isn't douchey. I'm a biology prof who teaches at a community college in California. Never did get the hang of hashtags, but hope to figure it out some time! I also knit, take photos, read, and blog about natural history. Oh, and I'm owned by two cats.
