This picture is going to be printed in history books as a turning-point for transgender people in the US. The open question is, which direction will the turn be in?

I don't know, and I don't have ideas for what I can do, but we are on the cusp of big, scary changes that will affect everyone, not just trans people, not just minorities.

If you were waiting for a call to action, here it is. They just banned her from the MT House using the rules of decorum. What better metaphor for where we are?

The simple answer is yes.
They were illegal until 1982 as the were perceived as a form of market manipulation.
The complex answer is: it would probably take an act of Congress.
@soatok @rbreich Hotter take: let's make stock buybacks illegal, and cap dividends (to 0 when you're doing layoffs)

Hot take: Every time a corporation announces layoffs, they should be legally required to disclose how much money they've spent on stock buybacks in the past 6, 12, and 24 months.

Keep things in perspective.

Me to the cops one year from now: anyway, I just started digging.
I want to make a burrow.
Some of my old friends used to call be the lesbian of the woods. I may live up to that.
Inspired by the prayer I just posted, I've decided that I'm gonna try to plant a tree for every special occasion.
The Gods look with grace upon those who plant trees along roads, in homesteads, at holy places, at crossroads, and by houses. If you wed, plant a wedding tree. If a child is born, plant a tree. If someone beloved dies, plant a tree for their spirit. At all holidays, visit trees. Prayers will attain holiness through trees of thanks. So may it be!

Have an ancient Baltic prayer that I like. May I love and respect my family; may I protect their graves, and that I may plant oaks for their rest in cemeteries.

That my hands may never become bloody from human blood. That the blood of animals, fish or birds may not soil my hands, if I might kill them satiated and not hungry. Those who today kill animals with delight will tomorrow drink human blood. The more hunters live, the further fortune and a happy life escapes us.

That I may not fell a single tree without holy need; that I may not step on a blooming field; that I may always plant trees.

That I may love and respect Bread. If we all respect bread, there will be no starvation or hardship.
