Appellate Attorney in the U.S. In addition to a law degree, I have a B.A. in political science with an emphasis on political theory (the classics) and philosophy. Also a helper. Appreciate the follows!

"Elon Musk secretly ordered his engineers to turn off his company’s Starlink satellite communications network near the Crimean coast last year to disrupt a Ukrainian sneak attack on the Russian naval fleet...”

"As Ukrainian submarine drones strapped with explosives approached the Russian fleet, they “lost connectivity and washed ashore harmlessly,” Isaacson writes."

#Elmo is going to demand a selfie and a copy of your ID and an Israeli company will be handling the data. I can't possibly stress enough how strenuously you must refuse to do this...if you still for some ungodly reason wanted to remain on Shitter but this means leaving, LEAVE.

Update: Article doesn't state it's for blue checks only but that may be the case. If so, it could eventually expand. I still say "leave!" because it's a cesspool. https://www.pcmag.com/news/verifying-your-identity-on-twitter-will-require-taking-a-selfie

A new ID verification process is in the works, requiring a selfie as well as government-issued ID.

@WalterShaub I checked in recently to see if you had expressed an opinion or shared insight re: recent SCOTUS revelations. I’ve been beyond aghast — don’t really have words. Remember “even the appearance of impropriety”? Yeah, me, too.
@wonderofscience You are made of stardust . . . .
@notsoloud @petersuber Respectfully, I, personally, have no interest in knowing Musk better (or at all, for that matter); and the collective voice expressed on Twitter has been a strong force in pushing back on authoritarianism and otherwise undemocratic forces in our country and around the world. I think we are creeping toward a critical juncture politically. I believe that Musk, the Saudis, and others bought Twitter to destroy its/our influence.
@petersuber It’s too bad that Musk doesn’t have anything better to do than muck with Twitter.

Wikipedia is now on Mastodon, at @wikipedia!

They've taken an interesting approach here, as it is an account run by the community, where everyone can contribute (explanation here: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/@Wikipedia). At the same time, it is verified on the official homepage of wikipedia.org, as you can see in the screenshot.

Personally, I think this suits the spirit of the fediverse that the Wikipedia account is not a PR department, but community members building something together!

In my opinion, the best thing about this trial is that it gives future plaintiffs a roadmap for likewise holding Fox accountable for defamation — which should force Fox to change its business practices.
