@Sablebadger @joncruz according to their FAQ the Matte line is just the rebranded polyterra filaments without a formula change. Does that jibe with your experience?

@NefariousAryq Right on! It took me far too long to realize that the main thing contaminating my print bed was me touching it with my bare fingers. I throw on a pair of cheap nitrile dipped gloves now and my failure rate has gone waaaay down.

@bshaw it'll depend on your budget, but a Prusa Mini is a good first printer In my opinion.

https://printables.com is where I go for models but there are lots of good choices out there.

Rounding out the Prusa-powered recommendations, you'll want to use PrusaSlicer with the Mini, at least to get started. The built-in profiles will get you a long way. I've never used the Linux version but it does exist
