I'm astar_7. Like my namesake, I'm trying to navigate the world. Unlike my namesake, I'm not super efficient. Civil engineer by day, game dev, musician, artist by night.
I was complaining about the invasive surveillance machine that has been set up in the US (ALPRs, ISPs and social media corps selling data, Palantir, etc) to some friends, but they looked at me like I was crazy for caring.
I explained how these systems give ICE and other access to scary amounts of identifying data, but they “aren’t afraid because they have nothing to hide” and “their data isn’t valuable.”
I don’t know how to convince people like them that this is a problem worth fighting.
