@lizcovart North Little Rock Arkansas had a long time mayor named Patrick Henry Hays. When city acquired a retired submarine to display many began calling him Admiral Hays.

@sonyasteele We have Thomas saying we have to interpret 2A as it would be understood when ratified but then when Alito applies similar standard to abortion and outright lies about the history and manufactures a history. Neither is worthy of the honorific Justice because they don’t use originalism to seek answers. They know the outcome and twist history to justify it.

The NYTimes today published a piece showing that this newly elected GOP Congressman from NY fabricated most of the life story he told on the campaign trail. The fact that this statement on his behalf ends with a fake Churchill quote is just...I mean come on now...if I wrote it in a piece of fiction you'd give me a stern talking to about how hamfisted that detail was.

Today, I voted to pass the Puerto Rico Status Act to give Puerto Ricans the right to determine their own political future. This progress has been long in the making, and I hope the Senate will move quickly to give Puerto Ricans the self-determination they deserve.

@bjmendelson the format of Mastadon, Twitter, Reddit doesn’t depend so much on friends but topics. When I signed up years ago, the topics I am interested in had scarce posting. Now legal and history are stronger. Sports? Pfft just not here.
