Busses are great, trams are better.

Imagine if roads were parks instead.

In the Iraq wars I got really sick of hearing liberals handwring about deaths among "American soldiers and Iraqi civilians." Can we not do it again with Iran or Venezuela or anywhere else Trump decides to bomb?

If you believe our country's soldiers are fighting an unjust war, then you should value the lives of the people defending others from our country.

There’s still a foot of snow outside, and we might get more. But sun means my house is warmer, and my heart is lighter.

This is big! The default speed limit in #Vancouver is being lowered from 50 km/h to 30 km/h on streets without a centre line. The vote took place last year; the roll-out is now happening in half a dozen neighbourhoods. #visionzero

Rümeysa Öztürk completes doctorate at Tufts nearly a year after harrowing ICE arrest

The Turkish national and Tufts University student was swept off the streets of Somerville last year by masked immigration agents. In a social media post this week, she announced she's completed her doctorate from Tufts’ Department of Child Study and Human Development.

@taivlam So many strong parallels here, and I've slipped into two of these communities despite their best efforts to be elitist and terrible, and come away with mostly the good half of their rhetoric and left the rest. .. but I think I got lucky.
And a basic web hosting built in too. It's nothing special, but they've made the basic case work for free. And a photo website is a special case, since that's actually what a personal account is going to want like 50% of the time.

Their business model is also clear: they charge you money to host email. More people = more cost. Not more domains, not more addresses, not nickel and dime for more services. Just a clear pricing model.

They have some surprisingly good addon services too. Custom DNS? With full technical control? But kinda easy to use? I am shook.

I remain completely impressed with the work that the team at Fastmail has done.

If you want to move away from Google, you could do far far worse.

They don't hide technical detail from you when it's important. They've carefully crafted all the text to be specific, but comprehensible. They explain things in clear language. It's really best in class.
