With each new surge of Mastodon users, I feel the need to point out:

1. Welcome!

2. There is a learning curve here, but most people find it short and not very steep. Play around, explore. You'll get it.

3. Lots of people are willing to help.

4. Yes, it's different than Twitter. Sometimes in good ways, sometimes not. But you'll figure it out.

5. With surges especially, things sometimes get slow/glitchy, but they usually get fixed pretty quick.

Be patient.

Honestly I still can't get over how russia is basically allowed to commit genocide on our land, run torture camps, bomb our hospitals, target our energy so we freeze and starve, but its escalation if we want to stop their bombers & missile launchers that are literally killing us

Thanks all for checking out WAYWARD -- if you liked the book and are so inclined to leave a review somewhere, I'd sure appreciate it.

If you *didn't* like it, you can leave a review too, but you should scream it into the ground. Find a hole, and yell it at some moles and voles. They'll know what to do with it, don't you worry.

@[email protected] @ajroach42 I’m 62 as of this October & feel at home on Mastodon. It’s like Usenet, ARPANET, & early BBSes had a baby. The territory is different, the spiderweb it creates is refreshingly familiar & new at the same time. I was present at the beginnings of what is now called social media when I was working for Excite Corp when it was a contender on the field against Altavista & Yahoo (yes, I’m old) — Mastodon is what we were shooting for but didn’t realize it.

"It's bigger on the inside."

59 years ago today, children in Britain, and shortly afterwards the entire world, learned something ordinary just might be not so ordinary.

They heard music unlike anything they'd ever heard before.

And they remembered it the rest of their days.

Let's not bring the "RT IF YOU AGREE" shit over here please
decades-long manhunt finally ends
mastodon getting mainstream coverage has been such an intense demonstration of that effect where you only realize that the news is completely, outrageously wrong about the most basic shit when it talks about something you're actually familiar with
