@jpmens I generally found pro wrestling boring, and faintly ridiculous. However, in my early years, I knew some younger kids who watched it. Hogan in particular marketed himself to younger kids as a sort of role model (not in a creepy way or anything; that was simply one of the demographics he targeted). He even had his own cartoon briefly (why I even know that baffles me, although in my weak defense I did need to look it up to confirm I wasn’t hallucinating it).

@jwz I do like that film, although if memory serves, the choices and/or ability of one of the actors made me cringe.
@jpmens all of which to say, yeah; he made an impact on a a sizable chunk of the young male population in their formative years, so I’m not particularly surprised if there’s an upswell of support/sympathy. Mildly disappointed, but not surprised.
@donw it might be. I’d never heard of it, but I went poking around, while waiting for <workthing> to finish. There was a 1965 film with Jane Fonda in the title role and a 1971 TV movie with Lesley Ann Warren. The woman in the photo is purportedly Jo Ann Harris, whose Wikipedia page mentions “Cat Ballou (1971)” and says it’s “a short film”. No links to it, tho. *shrug*

@colin_mcmillen @b0rk absolutely this. I run into this on macOS + zsh all. The. Time. I’ve not dug into why, but I even have a ctrlc_reset=‘trap true INT && trap INT’ (pure cargo cult code from stackexchange) to get ^C working again. Long since lost track of the number of times I’ve needed to ^Z + bg to get out of a program, tho.
@marnanel @sinituulia I’m a weirdo who buys it in bulk and eats it almost every day; it’s one of the very few cereals which have no sugar. I do put blueberries on it when I can get them, tho. I will freely admit that if I let it sit in milk (or a milk-like substance) for too long, I find the flavor…unpleasant.
